Description

Tisas 1911A1 US Army Armed Services Family (ASF) .45 ACP Pistol We are selling in its original packaging a brand-new Tisas 1911A1 US Army Armed Services Family (ASF) .45 ACP Pistol with 3 mags and genuine post-WW2 plastic replacement grips

We have compared this pistol with original WW2 Colt, Remington Rand, Ithaca and Union Switch & Signal pistols. It looks nearly IDENTICAL except that the Tisas looks like these other pistols when they were first made! See our attached pics, which show a Tisas compared to a Remington Rand 1944 manufactured 1911A1 – can you tell them apart? Also in the pics are the post-war plastic grips we include with this gun (in addition to the Tisas plastic grips – which we don’t like – and the Tesas wood grips – which look nice). You can see how the post-war grips we include compare to the grips on the original Remington Rand. [The WW2 Remington Rand pistol in the pics is NOT included when you buy the Tisas!]

WW2 pistols have slides that were not fully heat treated. If you shoot them now, the pistol will degrade and eventually become unshootable. Tisas are quality made with modern processes and metallurgy that includes fully heat- treated slides –its like shooting a WW2 style pistol for 10s of thousands of rounds!

We also include a third mag – a Tripp Research 7-round flush fit full-size 1911 Cobra magazine (7R-45-WG) modeled off the original Browning design of a flush fit for Government Full Size grip length pistols. Features include an upgraded spring and follower design. With black nitride finish, these mags are best used for tactical applications.

PATRIOT TACTICAL EXCHANGE EXCLUSIVE. If you buy this pistol from us, you get one additional high-quality black nitride finish 7-round GI style mag (3 mags total) and a set of authentic post-war Army contract numbered plastic grips that really gives the pistol an authentic WW2 vintage look.

Background

Tisas is a three-decades-old Turkish company known for making firearms like the Zigana or Fatih pistols. But in the United States, the company has partnered with SDS Imports and started producing single-stack or double-stack pistols available in all manner of trims, from tactical to historical. Although Tisas already sells M1911A1-pattern handguns, it recently took things to the next level with its new, faithful reproduction of a 1943 Remington-Rand M1911A1 USGI pistol.

Reviewer Comments

Paul Fitch, American Rifleman: “Tisas already sells M1911A1-pattern handguns, it recently took things to the next level with its new, faithful reproduction of a 1943 Remington-Rand M1911A1 USGI pistol….Everything about Tisas’ modern reproduction takes after the original Remington-Rand pistols, down to the checkering on small parts, the specific shape of the hammer or the mainspring housing. Similarly, the gun has the correct phosphated (Parkerized) finish on all major parts including the barrel. The slide’s ejection port has the original taller cut that is faithful to every M1911 of the era. Frames even include the historic “US PROPERTY” roll-marks on the right side…. Tisas did an excellent job with the fit and finish… the 1911 A1 ASF shows tremendous value… the Tisas 1911 A1 ASF represents an affordable and straightforward way to shoot and enjoy the service pistol borne by most American warfighters.”

Ajita Sherer: “The Parkerized finish is like something straight off an armory rack in the ETO. Slide serrations: check. Spur hammer and short trigger: check and check. It’s a WW2 service pistol clone that doesn’t try to modernize or play tacticool. No rails. No optics cuts. Just unfiltered John Browning goodness… Shooting it feels solid and deliberate. This is a warhorse… Tisas knocked it out of the park on feel. The arched mainspring housing and two sets of interchangeable plastic grips replicate the original, without the splintering of wood when it gets wet. The trigger pull is surprisingly crisp for a budget clone, breaking around 5 lbs with minimal creep…. The Tisas is the everyman’s way into a piece of history, a living, functioning tribute to the pistol that’s defended democracy for over a century. The Tisas 1911A1 isn’t just a great range gun, it’s a story you hold in your hands. It’s a handshake from the past. A salute to every Marine on Iwo, every paratrooper in Bastogne, and every sailor on a tin can in the Pacific. Whether you’re a collector, a history nerd, or someone who just wants to feel like you’re storming a beach every time you reload, this pistol delivers.”

Frank Jardim, American Handgunner: “The ASF is a closer copy of the military original… The ASF is like the Remington-Rand guns in that it shows a high quality of manufacture and is remarkably inexpensive….It’s a lot more gun than you would expect at that price point! The good news here is the SDS Arms/Tisas 1911A1 ASF U.S. Army 45 is a great representative piece for all the M1911A1 pistols of World War II…. Tisas 1911s now only use fully milled parts, rather than a mixture of Metal Injection Molded (MIM) and milled-from-billet parts. While the difference in strength, and by extension durability, may be slight, milled-from-billet parts are recognized as superior to MIM parts. Slides and frames are milled from steel forgings for the highest strength, consistent with the original design specifications. Unlike many far more expensive 1911 pistols, the safety and slide lock release lever were easy to operate with the shooting hand thumb…..If you want to have the experience of shooting a new World War II M1911A1 without mortgaging your home, you can’t beat this gun.”

Bob Campbell: “Tisas 1911 45ACP: A Tribute to a Classic… This pistol features a very decent trigger pull. There is a slight take-up- no creep- and a smooth break at 4.5 pounds. Reset is rapid. I would be pleased to have this trigger action on a much more expensive 1911… At present, it seems the best buy GI 1911 for recreational shooting. It is true to the design of a World War Two 1911 GI gun.”
