Overall, the Barrett 82A1 (82440) Mag provides exceptional fit and reliable feeding for the 82A1 rifle.
Barrett was founded in 1982 by Ronnie Barrett for the single purpose of building semi-automatic rifles chambered for the powerful .50 BMG (12.7×99mm NATO) ammunition, originally developed for and used in M2 Browning machine guns. Thereafter, Barrett Firearms modified its original bolt-action M82 rifle as a semi-automatic rifle (M82A1) for use by the U.S. Army.

Most importantly, engineered as the first shoulder fired semi-automatic 50 BMG rifle, the Model 82A1 has been proven in combat in every environment from the snow-covered mountains, to the desolate deserts, and everything in between. Its low felt recoil and reliable power delivers on target with every pull of the trigger. In summary,  the Model 82A1 is an American icon in active service by many militaries and law enforcement forces in more than sixty countries. Subsequently, the commercial M82A1 is available in .50BMG and .416 Barrett.
